Moments of reflection, what better way to start the week.
Why does Satan pick on the innocent? Vulnerability is the assest of his choice. Why? If he is so strong, so great that he takes on the Almighty, why pick on innocent children? Why doesn’t he go after the strong man of importance? The beautiful woman that could give a good showing for him?
At the heart of Satan is darkness — we all know it. Little is said about him because we fear him. Few would knowingly choose him. So he delivers a dose of brutality so cruel to many in childhood that he is with you in your night hours, in the morning when the sun peeks through the clouds, and taints the moments of your day.
He tries to steal you before you have a choice.
I know because instead of wanting my parents to serve time in jail, I wanted to be at their dinner table. They had earned a life sentence in a penitentiary for their crimes against their children but instead of telling on them owe all obeyed.
Incest leaves behind a wave of denial that threatens your life. We’re angry but hardpressed to show it. We fear constantly. We are intimidated easily but overcompensate by striking out or hiding.
The innocence of our childhoods shattered.
The next time you think you want to return to the parent that raped you remind yourself they should be in jail for what they did. Don’t think God is not watching, he is. Surrend all you’ve lost to him. Tell him your woes — he already knows them but needs you to acknowledge all that was taken.
And, Satan, get behind us!
