Introspection — what better way to start a week.
Question: Do you fear being alone?
Abusive relationships in our childhood teach us that we have no personal space, no time to be alone that isn’t overseen by the abuser, and nothing that would make us believe we were an individual.
Individual means single or separate. Abusers don’t like us to believe that we have that capacity, so as children we are taught to blend with them — cohesively becoming almost one with them. That way secrets are easy, their abuse of us is easy — we don’t put up much of a fight because we don’t really see ourselves separate from them.
One of the greatest life lessons God taught me was that I could indeed be alone. I could wake up alone and I could go to sleep alone. I could eat a meal alone at home or in a restaurant. Huge life lessons!
Codependency is another name for this syndrome in abused children. The definition of codependent is “characterized by excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner, typically one who requires support on account of an illness or addiction.” My father was both an addict and had an illness. Heaven help me! And, heaven did!

I made it out of their chaotic hell! The woman buried in the red circle above did not. Make sure you stay above ground. GET OUT AND AWAY FROM ABUSIVE PEOPLE – EVEN IF THOSE PEOPLE ARE FAMILY.
